Certificates of origin
To benefit from preferential customs duty the goods must be accompanied by a valid certificate of origin, proving the origin of the products. In the case of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) this proof is a GSP Form A. In the case of the other EU preferential arrangements, a EUR 1 Movement Certificate is required. The certificate is requested by the customs authorities in the importing country and issued by the customs or competent governmental authority of the exporting country. Usually, each consignment of goods needs a separate certificate. It can be valid for 4-10 months from the date of issue, depending on the type of certificate.
