Together with the Swedish Embassy in Nigeria, Open Trade Gate Sweden arranged two ”Export to Sweden” seminars in Lagos, Nigeria, and Accra, Ghana, earlier this month.
On May 10th a seminar was held in the Commerce House in Lagos, hosted by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was covered by Nigerian media both before and after the event and about 500 participating companies registered at the seminar. Many sectors were represented as well as a large number of associations and organisations. Speakers from the hosting organisations, the Nigerian customs and the Swedish experts from Open Trade Gate informed the companies about opportunities in the Swedish market and the regulatory framework for exporting to the EU.

On May 12th a similar arrangement was held in Accra together with the Ghana Export Promotion council and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The main focus of the seminar was agricultural and agro processing products and a Ghanaian company successfully exporting pineapples to the EU shared its experience. Issues such as labelling requirements, certification, documentation requirements at the border of Ghana and of the EU, transportation and logistics were addressed by the companies during discussions with the experts from Sweden and the Ghanaian organisations and customs.
