Swedish delegation visited Georgia

During 2-4 June 2010 a Swedish delegation lead by Mr. Anders Ahnlid, Director-General for Trade at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Sweden visited Tbilisi, Georgia. The delegation was organised by the Swedish Trade Council and Open Trade Gate Sweden in cooperation with Invest in Georgia. During the visit the participating Swedish companies had the opportunity to meet with Georgian companies and representatives from Georgian ministries and institutions.

On 2 June, a Georgian-Swedish Business Forum was arranged. The event was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mr. David Jalagania, the Director-General for Trade at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Sweden, Mr. Anders Ahnlid and the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Georgia, Mr. Zurab Alavidze. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as well as the organisations arranging the event presented their activities in Georgia and the region.

After lunch Open Trade Gate Sweden together with Invest in Georgia continued with an “Export to Sweden” session together with the Georgian exporters. About 20-30 people attended, including representatives from the ministries, private companies and business and trade organisations. The Swedish market and the rules and requirements applying when exporting to Sweden and the EU were presented by Open Trade Gate Sweden.
