Honey Case Study in Zambia

10/7/2009

Open Trade Gate Sweden, together with two experts from the National Board of Trade, made a field trip to Zambia 14-20 September 2009 to conduct a case study of the Zambian honey export sector. The study aimed at mapping the whole distribution chain, from beekeeper to end consumer in the EU, and identify possibilities as well as bottlenecks along this chain.

The visit was organised in cooperation with Zambian Development Agency (ZDA), the Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka and the Embassy of Zambia in Stockholm. Together with experts from ZDA and the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industry, the Swedish delegation conducted a large number of interviews and gathered vast information from main stakeholders in the cities of Lusaka, Kitwe, Solwezi, Kabompo and Kabwe. The report from this study will be available soon on this website.
