Visit by African Union Trade Group
10/16/2006
On October 10th, Marie Andersson de Frutos, Executive Director at the Open Trade Gate met with representatives from five African Embassies in Stockholm; Senegal, Botswana, Alger, Congo and Zambia. These Embassies have created a working group on trade within the framework of the African Union.
The AU-Trade Group wished to discuss how to promote trade between Sweden and the AU.
In order to make use of the possibilities and products that the African market has to offer, it was emphasised the need for increased knowledge about the Swedish market among African exporters. The possibility to organise seminars in different African regions where local producers can learn about how to reach the Swedish market was discussed.
The Director at the Department of Trade and Sustainable Development at the National Board of Trade, Mr Thomas Hagman, also participated in the meeting and gave his support to further cooperation between the AU-Trade Group and his department.
